‘BB to sue Federal Reserve Bank’

Staff Correspondent :  AMA Muhith has said Bangladesh Bank will sue the Federal Reserve Bank of New York following the hacking of its reserve account in the US.Muhith said this on Tuesday talking to newsmen at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

The finance minister also said the central bank of Bangladesh did nothing wrong related to the incident of hacking.
“I have heard that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has completely denied taking responsibility for the incident,” said Muhith.

The New York based bank, in no way, can avoid all responsibility in the hacking incident, he added.When asked about their initiative, the finance minster said, “We’ll definitely file a lawsuit [against the Federal Reserve Bank.”However, BB in a statement on Monday said it is preparing to take legal steps to recover the money, stolen from its reserve account in the US, admitting that its account in the US has been hacked.On the same day, Muhith said the hacking of the BB account to steal money is unusual and he could not comment on it.
