Bangladesh’s parliamentary democracy reaches int’l standards: India’s president

Staff Correspondent  :   Pranab Mukherjee and Shirin Sharmin ChaudhuryIndia’s president Pranab Mukherjee has 1said Bangladesh’s parliamentary democracy has reached international standards, claimed a press release of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.

The press release signed by the deputy director (public relations) at the JS secretariat, Md Nurul Huda, said the Indian president made the remarks in a meeting with the speaker, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, at the president’s official residence in New Delhi.

“Currently, Bangladesh’s parliamentary democracy has reached international standards and that’s why two Bangladeshis have been elected heads of two international organisations like the CPA [Commonwealth Parliamentary Association] and IPU [Inter-Parliamentary Union],” read the press release.

The Indian president said the lot of the common people has “improved under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh is playing a strong role in the international arena.”
