Won’t Tonu get justice?

Online Desk Reporter   :   Slain Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s mother Anwara Begum on Monday said she wonders if they are denied justice because they are poor.

Speaking at a demonstration staged by Comilla Gonojagoron Mancha in Kandipara Chattar of Comilla city, the bereaved mother lamented that there is no headway in the murder case although it has been three months since she had been murdered.

“Army men took away all the memories of my daughter. Her diary, photo album – they took away everything. We are not speaking against the government. We speak against my daughter’s murderers,” she said.

Tonu, 19, a second-year history student of Comilla Victoria College, and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on March 20, hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.

Later, Tonu’s father Yaar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house. She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
