Bangladesh government has summoned the Pakistan high commissioner
Shafiq Rahman: Bangladesh government has summoned the Pakistan high commissioner to Dhaka Shuja Alam after his country formally expressed reaction over the executions of two war criminals. The high commissioner is to pay a visit to foreign secretary (acting) Md. Miznur Rahman at the foreign ministry in the capital .A reliable source of foreign ministry confirmed this .
He said, Pakistani foreign ministry expressed concern over the executions of two war crime convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed through a statement on Sunday. The Bangladesh ministry of foreign affairs summoned the high commissioner after noticing this.
The statement noted, ‘We (Pakistan) have noted with deep concern and anguish the unfortunate executions of the Bangladesh National Party Leader, Mr. Salauddin Quadir Chowdhury and Mr Ali Ahsan Mojaheed. Pakistan is deeply disturbed at this development. ‘
Terming the war crime trials ‘flawed’ and dislike of international community the statement said, ‘we have also been noting the reaction of the international community on the flawed trials in Bangladesh related to events of 1971.’
The Pakistani government is still grasping on the tri-nation agreement among Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh in 9th April of 1974. Regarding this the statement reads, ‘The Agreement calls for a forward looking approach in matters relating to 1971. This would foster goodwill and harmony.’
War criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid were executed at 12.55am early hours of Sunday.
